Christian J. Ward  | Managing Director, Director of Research
Christian J. Ward is responsible for the research and investment strategy employed at Ockham Wealth Advisors. Mr. Ward founded Ockham Research, an investment research firm, along with E. Marsh Douthat in 2006 to provide consistently profitable investment recommendations and analytics to the institutional investment community. Prior to founding Ockham, Mr. Ward was a Managing Director and Director of Research for BNY Jaywalk, the independent research division of The Bank of New York. Mr. Ward founded Jaywalk in 1999 and analyzed and evaluated over 300 different investment research products and services over a period of five years to identify the optimal investment products necessary to consistently achieve alpha.
Mr. Ward received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Florida.
Scott Rawson   | Portfolio Manager
Scott Rawson has eighteen years of experience in investment management, starting out as a Financial Consultant with The Robinson-Humphrey Company before moving to the Trust Department of Wachovia Bank, N.A. in 1993, where he worked for 6 ½ years as Vice President and Investment Management Advisor. He left Wachovia in 1999, becoming a Vice President and Registered Representative for the Atlanta-based Registered Investment Advisor, Capital Directions LLC. He also worked for Atlanta-based Registered Investment Advisor, Capstone Investment Group before joining Financial/Market Management, Inc. in August of 2001 as a Senior Vice President. Rawson started OWA in April of 2008. Prior to entering the investment management field, Mr. Rawson was a Naval Intelligence Officer for 6 ½ years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant (O-3).
He has a B.A. in Advertising/Marketing from the University of Georgia and an M.A. in National Security Studies from Georgetown University.
Ned Douthat   | Trader & Analyst
As an equity analyst, Ned Douthat assists in developing long term strategies for Ockham Wealth Advisors. Mr. Douthat’s expertise in securities analysis and the equity research methodology utilized by OWA was developed under the guidance of his father, E. Marsh Douthat III, the original architect of the Ockham methodology. In addition to investment analysis, Mr. Douthat works with client accounts as a Registered Investment Advisor at OWA.
Mr. Douthat’s financial analysis and daily investment writings have appeared in numerous financial publications including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes.com, Business Week, SeekingAlpha.com, and The Globe and Mail. Prior to joining Ockham Wealth Advisors, he earned BA degrees in both Business Economics and History from the University of Texas at Austin.
Berry Cox  | Alpha Optimization, Abacus Analytics
Berry Cox is a partner with Abacus Analytics, an alpha optimization consulting firm. He provides portfolio management support and analytics with specific focus on quantitative strategies and alpha optimization techniques for OWA. He is the founder of Abacus Analytics, a quantitative consultancy providing portfolio optimization and research analytics. Prior to Abacus, Berry was director of Quantitative Equity Research at Credit Suisse First Boston and at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Before DLJ, Mr. Cox was an analyst in the Equity Portfolio Analysis Group at Salomon Brothers. He began his investment career as a portfolio manager at PanAgora Asset Management.
Mr. Cox received his M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his B.A. in economics and international relations from the University of Virginia.
